hero's journey essay

Out of two movies we watched "Castaway" and "Worlds fastest Indian" and out of the story we read "Beawolf". The one i think was a true hero was Chuck Noland from "Castaway".He truly was a hero. He was flying on a plane going on a business trip and all of a sudden his plane crashes. He wakes up the next morning to notice that he is not on the plane but on an Island of some sort.He wonders of looking for anyone else he was on a plane with only to discover he was by himself. No one to talk to no way of knowing were he is and not being able contact anyone.
He was considerd a hero in my eyes because he never gave up.He didnt give up hope he knew that one day he would be rescued and go back home to his normal life go back to his girlfriend and maybe not think about flying anymore.
Think about it what would you hace done if you were stained on an island i know for one thing i wouldnt have made it four years.Think about the experience he went through he coulndt make a fire he cut his hands several times just to make a fire and out of that fire he made his on friend his volleyball he found with his luggage that he named wilson. Some people thought that he was already crazy because who in there right mind turn a volleyball into his friend.I woyld have done the same thing not because i was crazy but just to have company talk to someone even though you knew you werent going to get any respond from anyone.
He is a hero in my eyes because he managed with what he had from the luggage he found. He was smart enough to make weapons to catch his food.Another thing is am surprised that he lived long enough just living off of fish and acouple of fruits he found. He also made his owm shelter to stay warm and not die from ammonia. To me thast what i consider a hero not someone who thinks he can do it that ppeople would like him or her just because they were strong.A hero is someone hoe will be willing to survive through hard times and help people when he knows he can .thats what i think a hero is.

Chuck Noland is a FedEx guy that delivers packages. I think he complete his journey in the movie. Chuck Noland got separated with the rest of the civilization when the plane crashes in the water he got drifted to an unknown island. he tried getting out of the island but the wave was just to big to go over with his small raft. He tried to explore the island to see if there anyone in the island. He tried to look for food but only found coconuts. Chuck Noland Decided to collect many boxes that he find on the island. Then he decided to open them one by one He found this ball and name it Wilson. Chuck starts talking to Wilson like his a person. When he finally start think hoe to leave the island he started to build a bigger raft that he can go over the big waves. When he was staying in the island for 5 long years he learn how to survive. When he just got to the the island he doesnt know he was doing. But he finally knows how to fish make food for himself and he know how to make fire. When he was done making the big raft then he leave the island.

HERO'S JOURNEY ESSAY

This paper is about Beowulf's Hero's Journey. He did complete a Hero's Journey not once but twice. First when he goes off to fight Grendel then returns. Second is when he goes off again to Herot this time to fight Grendel's mother.

Beowulf's seperation is when he leaves Sweeden. The calling is helping Hrothgar defeat Grendel, then to defeat Grendel's mother. He really doesn't have a threshold since doesn't think wheather he should go or not, he always goes on the journey. His descent is leaping into Grendel's mother's lake. His Journey so far is basically a Hero's journey since it follows all the steps.

Beowulf's initiation is when he starts off for battle. His abyss is going to Herot, Leaping into Grendel's mother's lake, and the dragons cave, because its the unknown. Beowulf didn't really have a real mentor instead he had the sword which he found in Grendel's mother's house, it helped him kill her. His transformation is slaying the dragon and killing Grendel and his mother.

This paper is about a hero's journey. Its about Chuck Noland and how he completed his hero's journy by surviving in an isolated island. Chuck completed his journey when he managed to build a raft and get off the island. It was a tuff journey but he made it through to become a hero.

Chucks seperation is when he takes his fight over seas. the plane crashes and he somehow manages to stay alive. Chucks calling is when he determins either to stay alive or take his own life. Chucks descent is when he decides to use the yellow raft and drift to land. Sofar as we can tell Chuck is going through a hero's journey.

Chucks initiation is when he keeps getting hurt every time he is trying to survive. His abyss is the island because the whole island is unkown to him. Chuck really had no mentor because he was isolated in the island. Chuck did have a friend named Wilson that did keep him company all those lonely days. He also had inspiration to stay alive it was his lockect that his not knowing ex gave him.
Chucks transformation is when he learns how to survive on the island. he learns how to fish and make fire. He also learns how to build a new raft strong and big enough to get him off the island. Sofar chuck is going through a hero's journey because he learns how to fend for himself.

My hero’s journey has started I want to do something for myself and for everybody. This journey is about me because I don’t know any hero’s and the ones in the movies don’t always tell the whole truth. I have not completed my hero’s journey because even though it has started it probably will never end. Because there will always be people that need an inspiration to move them or to touch their hearts so they can do something. I know that I will become champ and I will have everything I dreamed of.

My calling was when my sophomore year ended I had received alot of applications to go to the olympics for boxing. But just like I cannot go to college I can not go to the olympics. It made me feel that I am the best because of all the people in the United States they chose me to represent the United States. Although I cannot go it was an honor to just be asked. I had alot of times to take a job that I would be making good money and I would be safe, but It really wasn't what I want to do for the rest of my life. Now many people think that boxing is a brainless sport but I think it is the artist that makes the art such as Picasso or Hugh Hefnor. I had to decide if I wanted to take a chance to get my brains beat in and probably die in the struggle to become champ. Or should I choose a job that would not make a difference to anybody.I am going to move to alot of places to do my thing like to California and hopefully someday in New York at the Yankee Stadium.

I was in a place that I have been to but not recently. I had people doubting me telling me that I can't do it that not everybody can do it and that I am the person who cant. I was told that by people that didn't like me but being told that by my own friends and family I have never been before. I have more than one person helping me on my way up to the top my dad helps with paying for my equipment my cousins help with cheering me on at every one of my fights. And my mother even though she doesn't like my dream, she helps me by giving me the blessing of god. It would have to be a very great quest and I hopes it turns me into a great man. I really don't want it to turn me into a man like my father.

When I am done with my quest I will die a very happy man because I know that I made a difference in the world. With my success of winning the Light-heavyweight crown and hopefully adding the Heavyweight crown to my collection. I hope to give the kids all around the world hope that no matter who you are and no matter who tells you otherwise that you can do anything you put your mind to. I also want to help some of the homeless people but in a special way if they will ask me for money I will take them to get a haircut and a new suit and start them off with 500 dollars to go get a job and find me in the future and tell me how they did.

I talked about me in this paper because I hope to be an inspiration to all people not to just kids. I think I completed a Hero's Journey but not the Hero's Journey because people will always need a hero and when my time comes I will not be that hero anymore.

Hero's Journey Essay

I'm Sarah Graber and I am a 17 year old senoir at Hug High School. I have lived in Reno, Nevada for about 11 years nows, before we moved here we use to live in Chowchilla, California. We lived there until i was about 6 years old.
During school we get 2 weeks out for winter vacation. Well me and my family useally just stay home for christmas and my family from California comes up and visits us and after christmas, but this year was different. We found out that my grandma has cancer in her lungs and they didnt know how much longer she had left so my parents decided on us going to California this year for christmas instead of them coming up here becuase they didnt want my gradma to travel just in case it got worse. So the saturday after we got out for vacation we left and went to California.
When we arrived, we went to our hotel first to check in and get our rooms so we all could takes showers and change before we left to go and see my grandmother. So after everyone got ready, we left and went over to my aunt's and uncle's house where my grandma was staying, my dad walked in first and then the rest of us followed him in, when we walked in my grandma was very suprised to see us. She didnt even know we were going to be there, because everyone kept it a secret from her. She told us that it was the best christmas gift anyone could ever give to her. We all had a Blast there, the whole family was there and we all sat around talking and joking and catching up on old things since we havent seen each other in years.
The day after christmas we left and came back home. It was really hard to tell my grandma good-bye, i felt like it was going to be the last time i was going to be able to ever talk to her. A few days later after we got home we my uncle called us and told us that the cancer in my grandma had gotten smaller than what it was.

My Story begins with me in my freshman year when i started playing baseball and it was my first year and i didnt know what i was doing because i didnt know how to play at all and I wanted to learn. So when preseason started i began learning on how to swing the bat right and the method that my coach told me #1 take a step with your front foot and #2 to twist my back leg and #3 to make sure my hip went through as i swung the bat. It started to work and i liked how it felt when i did it so i went home and started doing it over and over until i was so tired and my hands hurt to where there was blisters. as the season went on I began to learn the object of the game and the way it was played.

The day of our first game was the day that i had the bubble guts because it was my first game in playing baseball. When i went up too bat i was so nervous that i didnt know wat the hell was going to happen and soon a the pitch was thrown i took a swing a it like i was taught and i missed it it sucked but i was determined to hit that ball so i stepped back into that batters box and i was ready to smack that ball. As soon as that pitch was thrown i watched it all the way to the plate and i swung and i hit it so i took off to first base but the short stop threw the ball to the first baseman and i was out but the good thing about that was that i hit the ball and it made me feel really good that i did that. As the season went on i started feelin more comfortable with wat i was doing at the plate and out in the feild. The season went by so fast it was just to bad that i didnt get to play more tha than i did so i told my dad if he would put me on a summer and fall team with a couple of kids from our school and other schools so he did. Our first game that we had was so cool because it was away and in california so that made me feel really happy that it was a traveling team. The season went on and i felt that i new so much about baseball but there is so much to learn about the game and if you thought u knew everything about the game u really didnt.

it was my Junior year in high school and i started to look back at my freshman year and i realized that i have gottin so much better and knew that i had accomplished so much in the years that i have been playing baseball and it made me feel like i was one the greats. It is now my senior year in high school and i we are getting ready to start our season in Febuary and i cant wait because this year is going to be a great year because the coach tha twas in my summer league is copaching us now and when i was on his team we had a winning record over .500% and the only way that we are going to win is putting hard work into our practices and showing everyone that thinks that we cant do it were goin to show them up.

My paper is about Chuck Noland and his experience in the film Castaway. His plane crashed into the ocean, and he was stuck on a deserted island. He had to adapt to his surroundings in a different environment and live on his own. Chuck Noland completed a heroes journey because he did something a lot of people couldn't and probably never will be able to do. He survived all odds on a deserted island for four years when everyone he loved and who loved him thought he was dead.

Chuck was called into work to deliver a shipment for feel-ex. He had to leave his family, friends, and his home. He struggled to leave his girlfriend, when exiting the vehicle while she was dropping him off at the airport. His journey begins when he gets on the plane to leave. chuck also makes a decision on whether he should stay on the island or go and find help, because it was his home for four long years.

Chucks' journey begins in the unknown when he lands on a deserted island. He doesn't know where he is and he is very unfamiliar with the environment. An unopened package is what keeps him going for the entire four years on the island. His mentor and only friend was Wilson. Wilson was a volleyball who had a bloody hand print for a face. Wilson stuck by Chucks side the entire time chuck was on the island. While on the island Chuck learns to provide for himself in nature and be on his own. He did an excellent job taking care of himself, finding food and water, and making himself shelter.

Chuck built himself a homemade ship so that he could sail over many big waves in the ocean. He was found by a ship in the middle of the ocean while trying to sail away from the island. While trying to get away from the island he also loses his dear friend Wilson. After they help him get cleaned up, they put him on a plane home. He went and found his long lost girlfriend Kelly Fears. After he learned to cook and provide for himself in nature, he was able to better himself in his household.

I talked about Chuck Noland and his experience in the movie Castaway because he was a true hero. He was brave, confident, and kept himself motivated. He lived through rough times for four years, and was able to overcome all his fears. Chuck learned and proved to everyone he could provide and fend for himself in basically any situation.

Chuck Noland Experience an amazing hero's journey. He was the only survivor of a terrible plane crash and had to survive on a vacant island for four years. His journey made him into a person of courage, bravery, and peer Independence.
It all started when he got on the plane for a business trip Christmas Eve. He was at dinner with his friends and family when his beeper went off signaling for him to go to the plane. His girlfriend, Kelly took him to the airport, before he left they exchanged Christmas presents; she gave him her grandpas pocket watch, he gave her a ring they didn't make any promises except for to talk about it when he got back on new years. He got on the plane, in air there was a storm which blew them off the map, then crashed the plane in to the ocean.
He was the only survivor, a raft he was giving by one of the pilots saved his life, he floated to the island. he had no clue where he was, how long he would be there for, could any one find him? What would he eat? a few packages washed up to shore, one of them happened to be a Wilson volleyball. one day in anger after trying to start a fire and cutting his hand he slapped the ball and left a red hand print on it, this ball soon became his only friend: Wilson the volleyball. It took a while but he soon became a great fisher and was great at starting fire, he figured out how to live without the luxuries of civilized life.
He started calculating the tide and the weather, he built a raft that could handle the tide, all he needed was the right day to escape the island. when the time came he made it out, he spent a few days on the ocean, he lost Wilson out at sea, but them a ship came along and rescued him. every one was mesmerized when they found out he was still alive. A lot changed since he'd left, Kelly got married and had a kid was the only thing he really cared about though. He bought all the items that were in the packages on the island and returned them.
Chuck was a survivor, most people in that situation would have probably just laid down and died. He worked hard to live and made it, he did everything he set out to do with all the obstacles in the way, he definitely completed his journey. I wish I could be a smart as him if I was stuck

Hero's Journey

a hero to me is someone that puts others before them selves and will do any thing to keep a promise and goes to hell and back to keep their promiss. but loves life and never fears death all that matters is what they promissed or someone that will risk every thing for others or just help others out to the best they can and in my oppinion chuck from cast away is a hero because he did what ever it took to keep a promiss but things go wrong in his journey.

chucks separation is when he loves his job so much to leave his new feoncia on christmas for a business trip so they say their good bies and exchange gifts he got a pocket watch cause time means everything to him and he got her a wedding ring for the last gift so now they are suposed to spend the rest of their lifes together when he gets back but u will find out what happens in his journey as i explain it.

Chuck hears the sounds coming from the cockpit and knows something has gone wrong. The plane crashed into the sea and he is taken down with it and relizes that he has the raft so he inflates it and floats up and climbs in and falls asleep The initiation begins when he awakes and finds himself on a island. Over the next four years his mind tells him he will die on the island and never see his feonsia. But his courage, hope, and reason to be reunited with her pushes him to survive.

Chuck begins his return when he decides to leave the island in hopes of being reunited with his feoncia. A cargo ship picks him up in the midle of the sea and he is ironically flown home. All his logic is proven wrong with his return, but upon returning he discovers that his feoncia has married some one else and began a new family with a new man.

BEOWULFS HEROES JOURNEYS
Hello this may seem a little odd, but this is an essay about(as the title suggests)is Beowulfs hero journey. To some he went through only 2 journeys through the impossible and completed them both. It is also arguable that he went through three and died at the end of the final journey. His conflict wrought life is a tale to be told but is just to be read today.

His seperations where very short in the text book version in fact they are barely there. You could say that the first few steps were taken out and put there for his avariciousness for fame and glory. The last one was put up that he needed to protect his people from the terrible dragon and it was his fate, but that is all they put in the text book to save space for the good action filled parts of the story so they combined all the seperation steps together and made them the last step in the seperation. So the seperation is an important part of the story but skipped for actionso high school kids would read it more on their own.

the abyss in the initiation are actually drawn out longer then should to keep the feel of depressing loneliness in the second and last one. the abyss was the longest part of the journey in the book to keep readers on the edge of their seat so when it ended it was a relief. He really doesn't have a mentor in the story ,but it is arguable that his best friend Wiegraf could be his mentor by going to impossible odds to save Beowulf .Though the mentor may have been absent the transformation isnt missing. After the first 2 monsters he changed and it showed in his old age when he was respected and humble. the reason being killing Grendel and its mom made him a god to the common man by killing 2 demons in his life. After that you really dont need to do much more in your life now do you.

His first two returns are charaterized as a joyful and triumphant one that is to be expected in the destruction of a demon that has plagued your kingdom. The third is a tearful and saddening one that ends in the death of Beowulf. his third is actually the most humane because he died and they give him the most honorable funeral service they could do in those times and raised his soul to the heavens with the funeral pyre. His creations though are his greatest in all the heroes journeys I have known because he not only brings peace to his land , but brings peace to an allies land twice in his lifetime.

This story was a great story by the fact he doesnt complete one but three heroes journeys. The last one was completed with his death but created peace in his land. So he did complete all three of his journeys and had a good life in his time. and if you want my opinoin. I typed and wrote this paper so you have my opinion, but now the question remains. What is your opinion of the story.

My story starts in a little town called Reno in the state of Nevada. When I was in middle school all of my freinds in and out of school were all smoking marijuana. I wanted to be cool with all of my freinds so I stated to smoke it as well. I was smoking it only to be cool with my freinds because they thought it was cool. As i got in to my senior year of high school I started to get tired of it. And eventually quit.

I was a smart little kid in elementary and half way through my seventh grade year. I was on honor roll, had a lot of freinds and could careless what others thought of me. Until my freind Berry said "you wana hit this? It will make you even cooler." So I procceded and took my first hit. I really didn't feel anything but, I thought I was cooler so I didn't care. If I could go back I would beat myself up fpr doing so.

My freinds all cheered me on as I cotinued to smoke and smoke. It got to a point where I was smoking almost all day every day. I was really only interested in getting high then anything ealse. As I started to light up a joint, a freind name Zack came up to me and asked me why I was taking my life in this direction? I said "what are you talking about? My life is exactly how I want it. He replyed with "Oh really, then why don't you have a job? I couldn't answer.

I was 17 years old and did not have a job. Every where drug tests and I have no money to buy clean out. So I sat down with myself and had a long talk. I finaly decided to quit and be done with it so that I could get a real life.

So after a few years of smoking I had finaly made a good decision in not smoking marijuana any more. I had quit and after it all; all my freinds supported me. It turned out that I really didn't need to smoke to be cool, I just needed to be myself.

Hero's Journey

A hero is someone that uses a quality or qualities greater than the average man for good. Cast Away contains a time consumed man named Chuck Noland and his hero's journey. He is simply a hero because of his incredible courage, hope, and reason for survival.

Chuck's separation started with his reason for leaving, his calling, which was a business trip. As Chuck walks back to his car to give his girlfriend the keys, and also to say good bye he finds his threshold, the moment he has to decide wether to stay or to go. As Chuck enters the plane he begins his descent into his journey.

Chuck hears the sounds of distress coming from the cockpit and knows something is gone wrong. The plane crashes into the sea with a thunderous noise and he is left all alone clinging to a raft! The initiation begins when he awakes and finds himself in the abyss, the unknown. Over the next four torturous years his logic tells him he will die on the island and never see his wife. But his courage, hope, and reason to be reunited with her pushes him to survive.

Chuck begins his return when he decides to leave the island in hopes of being reunited with his girlfriend. A ship retrieves him at sea and he is ironically flown home. All his logic is proven wrong with his return, but upon returning he discovers that his girlfriend has married and began a new family with a new man. He lost her all over agian and must now decide what path he shall take his life towards.

Where most people would give up, Chuck did not. With all of his logic telling him he would never make it back, he proved logic wrong. Incredible courage, hope, and reason for survival are the qualities that make Chuck Noland a hero.

Jorge Isaias Hernandez

An epic Journey starts off from a city to a unknown Island in the middle of no were. Where a man will have to do what ever it takes to survive and to escape from where he is at now. He must eat what ever there is to eat, drink what ever there is to drink to stay alive. He must use all his intelligance, and all his ideas to figure out a way to get off the island.
Chuck Noland who is a worker at FEDEX corporation, is married to his wife and has a beutiful house, nice car, and a wealthy family, is about to go on a epic journey.
As you read long this essay,he does complete or acomplish his journey beacuse he finds his way back home and alive.
The seperation of Chuck Noland is when he gets on the plane and is being seperated from his family. The reason why he got on the plane was beacuse the calling on his pager was beebing and he knew it was time to get to work and to get on the plane. His threshold is when he is getting out of the car, it was very hard for him to say goodbye to his wife. Before he even got on the plane and into his car, it was raining and blowing winds very hard, his wife knew it was not safe to get on the plane. When Chuck was on the plane, he realized that the palne was moving alot and id did not feel safe about it,when he was in the bathroom he took off his band aid off his finger, all of a sudden he realize that the side of the plane had blowned out.The pressure from the wind wanted to such him out of the plane, but Chuck was holding on, he dropped his watch that his wife gave him, he went after it then he looked up front and saw that his pilots where knocked out or maybe even died. When he also looked up front he saw that the plane was going to crash into water and make a big impact. After the plane had crashed Chuck thought he was not the only one who survived.
After the Hard rain and wind had stopped, the next day Chuck woke up next to a island that he was near by, so Chuck decided that he was going on the isalnd. When Chuck was on the island, he had no clue where he was at or what island he was on, but he did know that he was lost and scared. Chuck was looking for survivers but all he found was packages that had fallen off the plane and floated its way to the island. Chuck decided he was going to climb up the isalnd, when he got to the top, he looked around him and saw that he was surrounded by water and there was nothing or nobody near. Then he saw somebody in the water, so he quickly climbed down the island and went to go help him then he realized that he was died, Chuck was scared, so he barried him and then he started opening the packages, in them there was: ice skates, a brown dress, VHS movies, a volleyball, and a package that he never opened.
After 4 years of living by him self on the island he ahd no one to talk to but his friend Wilson. Wilson is a friend Chuck created with the blood of his hand. Ever since Wilson was amde, Chuck has taken Wilson were ever he goes. Also when Chuck was on the island, there was alot of change or transformation in him, like: he looked skinnier, he looked very different from his face, he had more experience on catching fishes, and starting fires. In my opinion he felt for a while that he was going to die on that island, he kept looking at the package he never opened, like if some thing was telling him a sign, a sign that is telling him he needed to go back where he is from. The reason why Chuck wanted to go back was beacuse he new he needed to come back for his family, for all the things he missed and remembered.
Chuck's creation was his wife, beacuse his wife made him what he is, like: sad, happy, quiet, and lonely. Chucks jeep is what made him tuff so he can come back. The main reason he came back was beacuse of his wife and the package he had with the symbol on it, he probably wanted to return it back to the person that it belonged to.

A heros journey is an adventure or a journey that a hero goes on. During this journey the hero learns valuable lessons. Chuck Noland is the hero i am writing about. He is the main character in the movie "Cast Away". he was flying to drop of some packages from UPS when the plane crashed. He was stranded on an island for about 4 years. He did complete his journey when he found a ship and was taken home.

Chuck Nolands separation was when he got on the plane leaving his girlfiend, family, and home behind. He was sitting at home with his wife when he recieved a phone call telling him that he was going to have to go on a trip delivering packages. that was the calling for the heros journey. The moment that he leaves the car to get on the airplane is the treshold. The descent is when the plane crashes in the middle of the sea. I didnt think that this was fare to him because he was only doing his job.

When Chuck finds his self all alone on a deserted island is the initiation. He has to do what ever it takes to survive. He had to catch fish, crabs, build shelter, star fires. He had a lockit of his wife and a volleyball that he named Wilson as his mentors. Wilson made chuck feel alot more safer on the island.

After 4 years Chuck decides he is going to try to return home. So he builds a wooden raft and floats away. He wakes up and Wilson is gone. This really breaks Chucks heart. The next time he wakes up thow he sees a huge ship. They rescue him and he Returns home safely.

I just wrote about Chuck Nolands Heros journey. How his plane crashed and he ended up on a deserted island. And he had to do what ever it took to survive. He found a new best friend in a volleyball named wilson. Then he built a raft to returns home to complete his journey.

A Hero's Journey is an adventure that any hero must endure to claim the ultimate title. This title comes with certain test, objectives that must be completed to succeed as a hero in society. Chuck Noland of the "Cast Away" story fulfilled the most casual Hero's Journey.

Seperation begins every hero like Chuck's journey and this stage is a direct similarity for when Chuck leaves his wife. To spark this seperation is the calling of duty which in Chucks case is to deliever these packages. On the calling unfortunetly, Chuck must cross the threshold. His threshold ended up to be a near death experience with the airplane in which our hero was passenger, to fately crash in the deep blue sea. This was an imediate descent for Chuck Noland because he is now forced to stay stranded on an unknown island that he luckily made to its shore. Obviously Chuck is oblivious to the Hero's Journey, but fortunately blessed to continue his adventure.

Next Chuck must endure the intiation which is to survive on the island. To face this island alone, Chuck has to do this simply because he dosn't have a choice. This solemn lonelinest is considered that Mr. Noland is going into the Abyss. However, Chuck is still alone but finds a imaginary mentor in the shape of a volleyball by the name of Wilson. With Wilson Chuck has the courage to get off the island and transform from being dead to society to becoming a brand new human being. This is truley an accomplishment for Mr. Noland on behalf that most people would have given up.

In an unbelievable phenomenon, Chuck returns from the island with a new look for his society. Chuck is no longer a product of his enviroment but a product of survival. This survival makes a creation of new appriciation, but at the same time drastic change. Chuck is now a hero to overcome the rueless mercy of mothernature and was rewarded by being allowed to come home.

Chuck Noland came into this journey without knowing what was waiting for him. With courage and patience he was able to prove that he had the makings of a true hero. Although Chuck is no batman or superman, he can still encourage people to keep their heads up and wait for the higher points to come in life.

The Cast Away!!
This paper is about a hero's journey throughout the world, and how he survived his situation. Chuck Noland is the main character in the movie Cast Away. Chuck goes on an adventure on a lost island, adjusting to a lot of new obstacles that he was faced with. Chuck Noland completed a hero's journey, because he was faced with many challenges. He was able to pull himself together and achieve greatness, never letting discouragement affect his determination to stay alive.
There are two separations in the movie Cast Away. First Chuck was called into work to deliver a shipment for FedEx, leaving his girlfriend and home. He struggled to leave his girlfriend, when exiting the black vehicle around Christmas. I think that he went on that trip, because he didn't think that anything would happen to him. The beginning of the journey starts when he gets on the plane to go on his trip. Also, Chuck has to make a decision whether he should go or stay on the island. The island was his home for four years. He had learned to adapt to that environment, and took an adventure on the island to find help.
When Chuck lands on the deserted island, his journey begins in the unknown, because he doesn't know where he is. He also enters a cave when it started to rain. The volleyball named Wilson was his mentor and his friend. Wilson stayed by his side throughout all his rough times. He was even the only one that Chuck could talk to. The unopened package was also his mentor, because it kept him going. The transformation is when he learns to cook and provide for himself in nature. I believe that he did a good job taking care of himself, no matter what he was faced with.
During the years that Chuck was on the island, he built himself a boat that was strong enough to get past the big waves. Also, while he was on the boat, he lost his best friend and became really sad. He was found in the ocean floating on the homemade boat. After they found him, they put him on a plane to go home. He got himself cleaned up, and started to live his life by going to find Kelly Fears, his long lost girlfriend. He learned how to use what he had in nature to better himself in his household. He was very brave and independent.
I have talked about Chuck Noland and his experience in the movie Cast Away. He was a true hero, because he was brave, courageous, and outgoing. Chuck learned to adapt to his new home on a deserted island. He was able to provide for himself even though he had doubts that he wouldn't make it. He was honest to himself, even about being suicidal. He completed a hero's journey , because not only was he faced with death, he overcame all of his fears. Chuck Noland is a true hero and has lived through some rough times. He has learned to take care of himself in any situation.

CHUCK NOLAND HERO'S JOURNEY.
We will analyse the Hero's Journey of a movie character. In this case it will be about Chuck Noland, the main character of the movie Castaway. This person completed his Hero's Journey, but didn't went through all the events.
His separation took place when he went on a trip, leaving his girlfriend behind. The reason or calling for this trip was a job task he was assigned. The threshold was when he had to think on wether take the trip or stay with his family and girlfriend. He chose to take the trip because it was a great opportunity for his career and went on the airplane, which represented the "Descent". He shouldn't have gone, because from my point of view, you should never leave your family because of a job.
His initiation was when the problems started in the plane, even though it was dangerous he didn't let go of his girlfriend picture which he left on the seat of the airplane. He ended up in a desert island, where the only living things were animals and trees, so he was in an unknown place (Abyss). He had no mentor, so he had to teach himself how to make a fire, how to fish and to protect himself from the weather. He did pretty well since he endured four years all alone.
He was later picked up by a carrier ship after trying to escabe from the island, that way he got back to his home place; the people from the company where he used to work see him as a hero, because he survived that long, this was his return into society. Although his ex-girlfriend got married, that didn't stop him from remaking his life, so he tried to at least tell her ex-girlfriend that he still loved her, although like I said, it was too late. So he went on a trip by car, to maybe seek another life, or just try to reestablish into society.
Thats all about Chuck Noland Hero's Journey, he missed out an event called "The Mentor" since he had no mentor. This movie character really fits the personality of a hero of never giving up on life.

Hero's Journey

The Hero's Journey, distinctively in a story, is the passage of the hero through three significant stages, the Separation, Initiation, and Return, that in some way change him or her. The Hero's Journey can also pertain to paintings, movies, and real life, as well as written stories. In Beowulf, a Hero's Journey is clearly established in the onset of the story. In the conclusion, there is an indication that Beowulf, the hero, completes a Hero's Journey.

Separation, the first stage of the Hero's Journey, is demonstrated when Beowulf leaves his home in Sweden. The calling, or the cause of this separation, can be visualized as the need to go and assisst Hrothgar in defeating the evil monster Grendel, who has been terrorizing and maliciously feasting on Hrothgar's people. The threshold, or the real beginning stage of the journey, is exhbitied by Beowulf's eagerness and dtermination to go on the journey and not return until Grendel is defeated. After crossing the threshold and traveling to meet with Hrothgar, Beowulf finds and effortlessly defeats Grendel. Grendel's mother is filled with rage after her son is killed. At this point in the story, the overconfidence of Beowulf lures him into Grendel's mother's lake, in the hopes of killing her as well. This is clearly a great depiction of the descent or the journey into the unknown, as Beowulf has no idea what kind of place he is about to enter into. The calling, threshold, and descent show a rift between Beowulf and his homeland, while also describing the onset of a great journey.

The second stage of the Hero's Journey is the initiation, in which the hero finds a mentor and perfroms heroic deeds. When Beowulf defeats Grendel and performs other heroic deeds, such as killing Grendel's mother and in the end the dragon, he then passes the initiation stage. The abyss or the unknown of this intiation is the trip to Herot, because Beowulf is truly clueless about the exil Grendel's power, but is still much determined. The Mentor in Beowulf does not turn out to be a person, but instead a sword that Beowulf finds in Grendel's mother's lake, and uses it to kill her. Throughout his life, in Herot, Beowulf single-handedly slays Grendel, Grendel's mother, and the dragon, and is tranformed, thus this being the transformation of the initiation stage.

The final stage of the Hero's Journey is the Return. In this stage, the Hero returns to his home, gamily, society, etc. At the end of the story, Beowulf doesn't necessarily return to Sweden, but after defeating the dragon, returns to Herot, which has been his home now for many years. Beowulf's people have been made safe and wealthy as a result of this return. This can be conceived to be the creation segment of the Return, but Grendel's defeat and the establishment of a much safer Herot for Hrothgar and his people best fits the picture.

As the story of Beowulf concludes, Beowulf dies a hero to the people of Horthgar and to his own soldiers as well. This death signifies Beowulf's completion of a Hero's Journey. The story of Beowulf is one of many examples where the Hero's Journey can be found.

Everyone has to face problems and challenges everyday but very few have had to experience what Chuck Noland went through. Chuck was a person who was forced into a hero's journey. He was on another one of his trips to deliver packages when his plane tragically crashed. Fortunatly Chuck survived the fall but he was forced to live on a deserted island.

He seperated from his wife to embark on his trip. The calling to deliver the packages was his main goal; he would do anything to complete the task in the right time limit. Chick's plane crashed thrusting him through a threshold where time didn't matter and nature was essential for survival. His descent to this new world would soon challenge his very life. Noland's decisions from then on would make him a better person in the end.

Chuck had to learn how to survive on this island and this type of initiation wouldn't be easy for him. The abyss was when he gave up hope for a rescue. That is when he opened the packages he was keeping safe for so long. Soon after, he met his friend and mentor, Wilson the volleyball. Noland went through a transformation and was no longer worried about time and money.

Chuck Noland returned home after a boat found him drifting at sea. When he came home he was a new person. He created a story of hope for the media. At the end of his journey he faced a fork in the rode. Should he go back to his old, hurried life or continue a new, peacefull life?

Chuck Noland had a loving wife and job he loved. He had to sacrifice what he loved most to become a hero. Did he complete a hero's journey? Yes, but he still has the rest of his life to live. Who knows what other challenges he will face?
