A Hero's Journey is an adventure that any hero must endure to claim the ultimate title. This title comes with certain test, objectives that must be completed to succeed as a hero in society. Chuck Noland of the "Cast Away" story fulfilled the most casual Hero's Journey.

Seperation begins every hero like Chuck's journey and this stage is a direct similarity for when Chuck leaves his wife. To spark this seperation is the calling of duty which in Chucks case is to deliever these packages. On the calling unfortunetly, Chuck must cross the threshold. His threshold ended up to be a near death experience with the airplane in which our hero was passenger, to fately crash in the deep blue sea. This was an imediate descent for Chuck Noland because he is now forced to stay stranded on an unknown island that he luckily made to its shore. Obviously Chuck is oblivious to the Hero's Journey, but fortunately blessed to continue his adventure.

Next Chuck must endure the intiation which is to survive on the island. To face this island alone, Chuck has to do this simply because he dosn't have a choice. This solemn lonelinest is considered that Mr. Noland is going into the Abyss. However, Chuck is still alone but finds a imaginary mentor in the shape of a volleyball by the name of Wilson. With Wilson Chuck has the courage to get off the island and transform from being dead to society to becoming a brand new human being. This is truley an accomplishment for Mr. Noland on behalf that most people would have given up.

In an unbelievable phenomenon, Chuck returns from the island with a new look for his society. Chuck is no longer a product of his enviroment but a product of survival. This survival makes a creation of new appriciation, but at the same time drastic change. Chuck is now a hero to overcome the rueless mercy of mothernature and was rewarded by being allowed to come home.

Chuck Noland came into this journey without knowing what was waiting for him. With courage and patience he was able to prove that he had the makings of a true hero. Although Chuck is no batman or superman, he can still encourage people to keep their heads up and wait for the higher points to come in life.
